What padel is, if you have never played
Padel is played in doubles on an enclosed court about a third the size of a tennis court. The walls are in play, the racket is solid and stringless, and you serve underarm. That combination means most people can rally within ten minutes of picking up a racket for the first time, which is why it has spread across Latin America faster than any other racket sport.
If you play tennis you will adapt in one session. If you have never played anything, you will still have fun on day one.
Playing in the Cartagena heat
This matters more than visitors expect. Cartagena sits at sea level, ten degrees north of the equator, and the middle of the day is hot and humid in every month of the year. Two honest recommendations:
- Play before 9:00 am. We open at 6:00 am Monday to Saturday for exactly this reason. The first slot of the morning is the best one of the day: the breeze comes straight off the bay and the courts are still in shade.
- Or play at night. Both courts have professional LED lighting, and from 6:00 pm the club fills up. If you want the real Cartagena padel atmosphere, come after dark.
Bring more water than you think you need. We sell cold drinks at the bar and there are changing rooms, so you can come straight from the beach or head out for dinner afterwards.
Coming alone, or as a couple
The most common message we get from travellers is some version of "there are only two of us" or "I am on my own". Both are solvable:
- On your own: tell us your level and we will slot you into an americano — a rotating format where you change partner every round. You play with everyone, nobody sits out, and you leave knowing eight people.
- Two of you: we pair you with two more players of a similar level. Ask a day ahead if you can.
- Four of you: just book the court and turn up.
There is no fee for being matched with other players. It is simply how the club works.
What to wear and bring
- Sports clothing you do not mind sweating through completely.
- Shoes with a flat, non-marking sole. Running shoes are fine; football boots are not.
- A racket only if you own one. Otherwise rent ours.
- Water, a cap, and sunscreen for morning play.
Getting here
Manga is the island just across the bridge from Getsemaní: residential, quiet and central, which is why the club is here rather than out on the highway like several others.

Lessons
If you have a week here and want to actually learn rather than just hit, book a lesson on your first or second day. Our coaches are certified and run one-to-one, pairs and small-group sessions. An hour is enough to fix your grip, your serve, and the one habit that ruins most beginners' games: standing too close to the back wall.

After the match
The club has a restaurant and bar looking straight out over the bay. That is not an afterthought — most people stay longer at the table than on the court, and the sunset from here is one of the better ones in the city.

Can I play padel in Cartagena without a membership?
Yes. You book the court by the hour, with no membership and no sign-up. It is from $80.000 COP an hour for up to four players, which works out to about $20.000 COP each.
Do I need to bring a racket?
No. We rent padel rackets at the club and balls come with the court. All you need is sports clothing and shoes with a flat, non-marking sole.
I am travelling alone. Can I still play?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp with your level and we will place you in an americano or an open match with players of a similar standard. It is the fastest way to meet people in the city.
How far is the club from the Old Town?
Five minutes by car. We are at Calle 29 #18b-29, Manga, twelve minutes from Bocagrande and about twenty from Rafael Núñez airport.
What is the best time of day to play in Cartagena?
Early morning or after sunset. We open at 6:00 am Monday to Saturday, when the breeze comes off the bay, and both courts have professional LED lighting for night matches until 10:00 pm.
Do the coaches speak English?
